Burial Date January 9, 2021

Services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen with Pastor Ed McDaniels officiating. Burial will follow at the Okey Wayne Family Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 11:00 until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Shriner’s Hospital.

Rebecca Jane Payne, 68, of Summersville, formerly of Webster Springs, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Charleston Area Medical Center, Memorial Division after a short illness. She was born November 6, 1952 in Richwood, a daughter of the late Rev. Okey and Ilene Goff Wayne.

Rebecca retired from the State of West Virginia, Division of Rehabilitation as an Administrative Assistant, she previously worked for the Webster County Assessor’s Office and the Mayor’s office for the town of Webster Springs. She was formerly a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Women’s Club and a former committee member of the Webster County Woodchopping Festival. She enjoyed reading, spending time with her family and friends and loving her grandchildren.

Surviving is her loving husband of 46 years, Gary Payne, son, Eric (Lisa) Payne of Gassaway, sisters, Mary (Phillip) Buford of Sissonville, Ann Maynard of Cowen and Kathy Wayne of Summersville, grandchildren, Savannah (Brent) Dittman, Trenton Payne, Heidi Payne, Bethany Payne, Leah Payne, Chelsea Payne, Isaac Payne, Jeremiah Payne and Amelia Payne, great-grandchildren, Roman and Ryker Dittman and many friends made over the years.

In addition to her parents, brothers, Frank and Jimmy Wayne, and sister Shirley Turner preceded her in death.
