About Us
Michael J. Morris, Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer, was born and raised in Cowen, WV. After graduating from Webster County High School and attending college, he served 4 years in the U.S. Army as a Graves Registration Specialist. He received an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Army and was called back to duty serving in Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Storm. Upon his return he completed his education at Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. He completed his internship and worked at Ford Funeral Home, Fairmont, WV for three years before returning to the area. He worked for White Funeral Home in Summersville and Richwood for two years before returning to Cowen to open his own business.
Mike has been very active in the community, having served on the Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development Authority. He has served as a coach and/or board member for Cowen Little League Baseball, Raiders Football and Webster County Youth Basketball. He is a member of the American Legion, the VFW, and the Masonic Lodge. In his spare time he enjoys watching his son play basketball, WVU sports and officiating High School Football.
He and his wife, Diane are the proud parents of two children. Daughter, Jill and her husband Travis Bustamante are attorneys in Charlotte, NC and the parents of granddaughter Lucy Kate. Son, Brett is a student at Glenville State College where he is a member of the basketball team.
