Mike Burnell Newhouse, 69, of Camden on Gauley, passed away peacefully May 28, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his family after an extended illness. He was born June 13, 1953 in Charleston, a son of the late Amel Andrew “Andy” and Dorothea Sultana Dunlap Newhouse.

Mike was a 1971 graduate of Cowen High School, he then started a 20 plus year career in the coal industry having worked for Sewell Coal Company and many other mines in the area. He enjoyed camping, hunting, cooking and telling a good story or joke. Mike was a member of Camden Lodge #107 and a former member of the Eastern Star.

Surviving is his loving wife of 49 years, Nancy Newhouse, daughters, Amanda (Bobby) Conley, Jessica (Charlie) Goff, Leeanna (Aaron) Dunlap, sister, Andrea Adams, grandchildren, Andy Conley, Emma Conley, Garrett Goff, Leah Goff, Brody Dunlap and many other friends made over the years.

In addition to his parents, brother, Garland Andrew Newhouse and sister, Masha Joan Wamsley preceded him in death.

Service will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen with Pastor Clarence McCourt officiating. Burial will follow at West Virginia Memorial Gardens, Calvin. Friends may call from 11:00am until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
