Dorothy Mae Giles, 91, of Cowen, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at the Webster Healthcare Center, Cowen after an extended illness. She was born November 16, 1931 in Cowen, a daughter of the late Ephraim Hanna and Lena Justice Hanna.

Dorothy was a 1950 graduate of Cowen High School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, canning, walking, eating out and listening to bluegrass music. Dorothy worked hard at providing home and raising her sons.

Surviving are her sons, James A. (Mabel) Giles of Cowen, Richard (Linda) Giles of Cowen, Jerry L. Giles of Cowen, Orval (Teresa) Giles of Glen Daniel, WV, Randall (Shelia) Giles of Cowen, sister, Verla Jacobs of Florida, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson and many other friends are sadden by her passing.

In addition to her parents, loving husband, Orval Giles, brother, Don Hanna, sisters, Ruth Edwards and Orpha Symes preceded her in death.

Services will be held at 2:00pm Monday, June 26, 2023 at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen with Pastor Doug Martin officiating. Burial will follow at the Handschumacher Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00pm Sunday at the funeral home.
