A celebration of Pap’s life will be held at 2:00pm Sunday, October 15, 2023 at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen with a Eulogy by friend and former co-worker Sam Zicafoose. Friends may call from 12:00 until the time of eulogy at the funeral home.

Warren Virdon “Pap’ Hamilton, age 78, died on October 7, 2023 at his home in Webster Springs.

He was born on September 8, 1945, in Diana to the late Lillian Williams Hamilton and Bencel B. Hamilton.

Warnie was a 1963 graduate of Webster Springs High School, where he developed his love of baseball. After graduating, Warnie worked for Monongahela Power Company as a lineman for 38 years. Warnie was happily married to Lois Williams on October 11, 1963. Lois was his partner in life and family and worked tirelessly to care for him during his illness so he could remain at home. The two were married for 59 years. Warnie was a member of the Moose Lodge in Webster Springs and participated in the Elk Valley Baseball League.

Warren is survived by his children, Billy Hamilton of Webster Springs, Diane (Mike) Morris of Cowen, and Amy Pearson (Eric Mullins) of Ellamore, his grandchildren, Jill (Travis) Bustamante of Charlotte, North Carolina, Brett Morris of Glenville, Brad Pearson of Buckhannon, Bryce Pearson of Grundy, Virginia, Breagan Pearson of West Liberty, and Katie Pearson of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and his great-grandchildren, Lucy Bustamante, Laine Bustamante, and Brooks Bustamante, all of Charlotte.

In addition to his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, he is survived by his brother, Wallace Hamilton of Curtin, and sister, Vivian Frazee of Webster Springs, as well as several nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters – in – law. In addition to his parents, sister, Kathryn Varney Newton, brothers-in-law, Carl Williams, Wes Varney, and Larry Frazee, and sisters-in-law, Charlotte Williams and Elaine Hamilton.

Pap, as known by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was a lifelong fan of baseball, especially of the Cleveland Indians. Pap could often be found sporting an Indians ball cap and watching their games in the comfort of his home. In addition to watching and playing baseball, Pap’s favorite activities revolved around his grandchildren. Pap supported his grandchildren at their basketball games, four-wheeler races, football games, baseball games, wrestling tournaments, volleyball games, and dance recitals.

Pap’s grandchildren knew him as supportive, kind, loyal, funny, tenacious, loving, and a proud grandfather.
