Burial Date December 8, 2023

Services will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, December 8, 2023, at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen, with Pastor Terry Cunningham officiating.  Burial will follow with full military honors conducted by American Legion Post #62 at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Cowen.  A gathering of friends and family will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 5:00-8:00pm at Morris Funeral Home. 

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to American Legion Post #62, POB 846, Cowen or the New Life Southern Baptist Church, 649 Erbacon Road, Cowen.

Roger Wayne Wilson, 74, of Cowen, passed away on December 1, 2023 at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins after an extended illness.  He was born May 16, 1949 in Richwood to the late Robert “Bob” Wilson and Vera “Madge” Johns Wilson. 

Roger was a 1967 graduate of Cowen High School.  He is a Navy Veteran and served in Vietnam.  Roger drove school bus for Webster County Schools, was a coal miner for Onieda, Smoot, Wolfcreek and Juliana Mines and was the previous owner of RW Wilson Muffler and Car Repair in Glade View.   He was a member of the American Legion Post #62 and a member and attended New Life Southern Baptist Church. 

Roger enjoyed riding his bike, going to car shows, attending anything his grandchildren was in, socializing at Hill Top Diner, attending all Motorsport activities with his family, and watching football. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, John Wilson. 

Left to cherish his memory are his children Jeannie (Charlie) Fisher of Cowen and Robert (Jessie) Wilson of Craigsville; brothers, Walter (Dorothy) Wilson of Florida, Randal (Connie) Wilson of Ohio, and Mac  Wilson of Webster Springs; sisters, Carol Mathes and Patty Wilson, both of Cowen; grandchildren, Valerie, Cheyenne and Nathan Fisher and Peyton, Raelynn and RJ Wilson; mother of his children and close friend June Bennet; and best friends, Mike Riffle and Kenny Hollandsworth.
