Frederick Darrell Hinkle, 74, of Craigsville, passed away peacefully, Sunday, November 12, 2023 at CAMC Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.

He was born November 18, 1948 in Richwood, a son of the late Edwin and Nellie Morris Hinkle.

Fred was a former coal miner. He was a 1966 graduate of Cowen High School. Fred enjoyed hunting, fishing, 4-wheeler riding, camping, ramp digging, gardening and taking care of his rose bushes. Fred could often be found walking in the outdoors with a cold Pepsi in his hand.

Surviving is his best friend and wife of 47 years, Norma Hinkle, children, Cindy Stuart of Craigsville, Angela Wilt of Summersville, sister, Unia Cobb of Cowen, grandchildren, Amber, Brittany, CJ, Conner and Caden, great-grandchildren, Kendra, Brantley, Brinley, Colt.

In addition to his parents, siblings, Ann, Carol, Sue, Doc, Gerald and Bub preceded him in death.

Service will be held a 2:00pm. Friday, November 17, 2023 at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen with Pastor Shawn Bragg officiating.

Burial will follow at West Virginia Memorial Gardens, Calvin.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 12:00pm until the time of service Friday at the funeral home.
