Scarlett, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Dad knew your dad for a long time. Roger and I were lucky enough to get to know and love him through the Wahoo Travelers Square Dancing group. His laugh and smile were infectious. He taught us a lot there. Dad talked about him a lot. He had known Roger a long time. I know they are both in Heaven having a wonderful reunion.

I first met Roger at the Woodchopper's car show about 10 years ago where Roger was happy to explain all the nuances of his old truck. In the late Fall of that same year, when I saw him attending a Webster high school basketball game, we sat together and I learned of his love of telling jokes. For several years thereafter, we sat together at the home games. Even after he had issues with his eyesight, he still attended some games. One of those games in particular, we talked for an entire half of the game about his experiences in Vietnam. The second half was consumed by, yep, jokes. I don't recall whether Webster won or lost that game, as it didn't matter. Talking with Roger was always an enjoyable experience. He was a fine man. My condolences to the family.

Roger was a beacon of light to everyone who met him! He had a way of making people feel comfortable and smile. One quote he said many times that I will never forget is “ Come on in, I will treat you so many ways you’re bound to like one of them “. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. May God comfort each of you.
