Betty Lou Stanley, 89, of Cowen, passed away and went home to her heavenly father on Tuesday, October 16, 2023, at West Virginia Caring Center, Elkins, after an extended illness.

She was born February 23, 1934, in Upper Glade, a daughter of the late Charles Henry and Christine Utt Armentrout.

On October 6, 1950 Betty married the love of her life Okey O. Stanley. She was a 1951 graduate of Cowen High School. She then started a 30 year career as a teacher’s aide for the Webster County Board of Education. Betty enjoyed cooking, canning, gardening, walking, swimming, going to the beach and spending time with family and friends.

Surviving are her children, Rodney D. Stanley of Cowen, Richard A. (Cristy) Stanley of Scott Depot, Okey O. Stanley of Cowen, Roger W. (Jennifer) Stanley of Bridgeport, brother, Mike Armentrout of Cowen, sister, Kathy Addington of Winfield, grandchildren, Christopher, Emily, Justin, Anthony, Amy, Shaunda, Samantha, Kaitlyn, Alyssa, Zachary, Garrett, great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Jace, Ridgley, Hannah, Madison, Remington, Owen, Phoebe, Alex, Melina, Layla, Aaliyah, Shaylee, Jordan, Cullen, Jaxson, Memphis, Bentley, great-great grandchildren, Riley, Jayden, McKinley, Sophie, Hayden, Wren, and many extended family and friends.

In addition to her parents, loving husband, Okey O. Stanley, daughter, Peggy S. Addington, brothers, Charles Armentrout and William Armentrout, sister, Wilda Williams, daughter in law, Anita Stanley and great- great grandson, Jaxson preceded her in death.

Service will be held at 12:30 pm Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen with Pastor Christopher Stanley officiating. Burial will follow at West Virginia Memorial Gardens, Calvin. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 11:00am until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
