Services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen, with Pastor Terry Cunningham officiating. Burial with full military honors by American Legion Post #62 will follow at the Woods Cemetery, Bolair. Friends may call from 11:00am until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.

Master Sergeant John Everett Bean,75, of Cowen passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at his residence, surrounded by his family. He was born March 19, 1945 in Keyser, a son of the late Floyd and Lela Virginia White Bean. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Richard “Dick” Bean, Floyd “Nub” Bean, Glen Bean, James Bean, William “Bill” Bean and Vaughn Bean.

He was a 1963 graduate of Cowen High School. John retired as a Master Sergeant from the United States Marine Corps., having served his country for over 20 years. John was a Vietnam Veteran. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Certificate of Commendation, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart and the Navy Cross. John loved his country and his family. He enjoyed fishing, reading and spending time around the house.

Surviving is his loving wife, Rosalie Hamrick Bean, son, Jonathan E. Bean of Cowen, grandchildren, Erik Bean, Patrick (Treasure) Bean and Joseph Bean, great-grandchildren, Draven and Exavior and many other extended family and friends.
