Lenora “Emogene” Smith, 74, of Erbacon, West Virginia, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, June 19, 2021. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, teacher, nurturer, and Christian.

Emogene spent her life caring for others- especially children. She loved children so much that she spent many years supporting them through their education in schools, fostering children in need, adopting two of her foster children, and caring for her countless nieces, nephews, grandchildren, neighbors and friends.

Along with her unconditional love for children, Emogene cared for anyone that walked through her door. When entering her home, everyone was immediately offered a warm homemade meal, good conversation, and an endless amount of unconditional love. Her empathetic and kind nature is evident in the number of lives she touched and the never ending support she gave to anyone who crossed her path.

Emogene is survived by her children, Douglas Smith, Randy Smith, and Dakota Smith; her sisters Wonda Cogar, Bernice Springston, and Jane Hughes; and her grandchildren, Anna Sherfinski, Jared Smith, Nathan Smith and Kayla Dawson. She is preceded in death by her mother, Eva Cogar (Oxier); father, Charles Cogar; husband, Billy Smith; siblings, Camella Perrine, Bill Cogar, and Lester Cogar; and son, Cheyenne Smith.
