A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00pm Friday, June 23, 2017 at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen with Pastor Mike Malcomb officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 62. A gathering of family and friends will begin at 3:00pm until time of the service Friday, June 23 at the Funeral Home. James E. Giles, 68 of Camden On Gauley, passed away peacefully, Monday, June 12, 2017 with his loving family by his side. He was born June 4, 1949 in Arcola, WV, a son of Beatrice Geraldine Green Giles and the late O’Neil Homer Giles.

He was a 1968 graduate of Cowen High School, received his Bachelor’s Degree from Glenville State College and his Master’s Degree from Marshall University. He was a retired school teacher with over 34 years of service in various schools in Nicholas County. He was an Honorably Discharged Veteran of the US Navy and served during the Vietnam Campaign.

He enjoyed building, reading, camping and collecting rocks.

He is survived by his wife Rosealie Ann Short Giles, son James Neil (Tanya) Giles of Diana and daughter Veronica “Roni” (Kevin) Westfall of Hurricane, WV; brothers Paul Phillip (Lee) Giles of Las Vegas, and Steve (Vanessa) Giles of Beckley; sisters, Shirley Elaine (Bill) Brown of Beckley and Patsy Elaine (John) Henline of Beckley; grandchildren: Logan Alexander Westfall and Nicole Louann Giles and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, sister Sandra Elaine Giles preceded him in death.
