Carmel Ellis Sanson, Jr., 78, of Summersville, formerly of Cowen, passed away Friday, November 26, 2021 at Summersville Regional Medical Center, after a short illness. He was born December 25, 1942, at Barnett’s Run, Webster County, a son of the late Carmel Ellis Sanson Sr. and Myrtle Evelyn Selman Sanson.
Carmel was the Pastor at Love and Life Fellowship Church, Williams River, former Mayor of Cowen, Town of Cowen Police, a truck driver and bus driver. He enjoyed riding the side by side, and motorcycles. He liked to fish and spend time talking with family and friends, singing and playing music with brothers and sisters. He absolutely loved talking to anyone who would listen about God’s word. His life motto was “God can be trusted.”
He is survived by his wife Emma Yvonne Wright Sanson and their children: Angie Sanson Rebrook and Jim of Clarksburg, WV, Camie Sanson Pennington and Eric of Bedford, VA, Alma Sanson Boyce and Joe of Tulsa, OK, Luke Sanson and Katie of Summersville, WV, and Lisa Sanson Means and John of Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren: Lexi, Taylor, Cherish, Chasity, Andrew, Emmy, Chantal, Tilly, Kara, Candace, Caleb, Cameron and Carlee. Great grandchildren: Holland, Gunnar, Tavi, Lessi, Mila and Gracie. Son Robert Cogar and Meredith and their family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandson, Nathan Deel, brothers, Leon Sanson and Perry Sanson, and sister Shannon Sanson Knowles.
A private family service will be held.
