Services will be held Monday, September 10, 2018 at 1:00pm at Trinity United Methodist Church, Cowen with Rev. James “Oz” Gray and Linda Dyer officiating. Burial with Military Rites, conducted by American Legion Post #62 and Masonic Rites conducted by Camden Lodge #107 will follow at West Virginia Memorial Gardens, Calvin, WV. Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00pm Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen, WV.

Arnold L. Ayers, 82, of Cowen, WV, passed away September 2, 2018, surrounded by his family at his residence. He was born September 26, 1935 in Saxmon, WV, a son of the late Ernest H. and Hilda Pauline Poole Ayers.

He was a graduate of Cowen High School, attended Glenville State College and was a US Army Veteran. He was a retired coal miner from Island Creek Coal Company. Arnold was a 60 year member of Camden Masonic Lodge #107, a member of the UMWA, and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed riding his side by side, his dogs Maggie and Boy, and playing with his great grandchildren.

Arnold is survived by son Lee (Sandy) Ayers of Cowen, brother Frank (Chris) Ayers of Cowen, WV, sisters, Joann Campbell of Texas and Connie (Delmas) Claypool of Spencer, WV. Grandsons Andy (Bobbie) Ayers of Cowen, Christopher Miller of Morgantown, granddaughter Bianca (Damon) Quinn of Weston, and great grandchildren, Madilyn, Liam and unborn baby Ayers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Given Ayers.
