Gary Edward Welch

Gary Edward Welch, 79 of Craigsville, passed away November 3, 2023 at the Hubbard House, in Charleston, WV.

He was born November 26, 1943 in Sutton, WV.  The son of the late Charles Newton and Bitha Ann Welch.

He was retired SFC from the US Army. Serving 22 years.  Gary enjoyed fishing, watching westerns, spending time with his family and friends and taking care of his dog Walker.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Carol, sisters: Shirley Pullens, Phyllis Minton, Bessie Thayer, Hazel Heater, and Peggy Rogers; brothers Jerry Welch and Bobby Welch.

He is survived by his daughter Juanita (Ed) Selman of Craigsville, grandchildren Letha Mae Selman, Russell Selman and Alexis Dawn Selman.  Great grandchildren Mason, Hayden, Lucas and Jensen and several nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, November 6, 2023 at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen with Pastor Craig Williams officiating.

Burial with full military honors conducted by American Legion Post #62 will follow at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Cowen.

A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday from 11:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
