Susan Kay (Geiser) Weir

Susan Kay (Geiser) Weir passed from life on Monday, March 13, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born November 7, 1955 in Beaver Falls, PA and lived most of her adult life in Webster Springs, WV. Sue held a B.A. from Carlow College in Pittsburgh and a Masters Degree in Special Education from West Virginia University. She worked for the Webster County Board of Education as an English and speech teacher at Webster County High School and Webster Springs Middle School, a preschool special needs teacher, a special education specialist at the central office until her retirement in 2022, and as a consultant after retirement. She also worked for Seneca Health Services for several years.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband Geary Weir, her children: Dr. Tiffany Weir-Vivanco (Dr. Jorge Vivanco), Fort Collins, CO; Derek Weir, Beaver Falls, PA; Dr. Allison Pyle (Jeremy), Webster Springs, WV; and Mason Weir (Crystal), Huntington, WV; grandchildren: Kiwi and Johnny Vivanco, Isaac, Brynna, and Makenna Pyle, Marley, Liam, and Cecilia Weir, her mother, Ann Geiser, sisters, Linda Ursida and Kathy Geiser, and many other friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Geiser, and son, Bryan Weir.

Sue was a passionate lover of life. As an educator, she advocated for children and nothing fulfilled her professional life more than watching her students find success. As a loving wife, mother, and “Mimi”, she was always present. She prioritized faith and family and was an enthusiastic champion for her community. She loved watching her grandchildren play soccer, basketball, and run track and cross country. She enjoyed traveling and was happiest spending time and making memories with her loved ones at the beach. She attended St. Luke’s Methodist Church in Craigsville, WV and donated her time and talents to various school activities and community organizations. Although there are no services planned, a celebration of Sue’s life will be held at a later date.
