Samuel Steve McCourt

Samuel Steve McCourt, aged 68, of Cowen, gracefully departed this life on July 17, 2026, at Summersville Regional Medical Center. Born in Sutton, he was the beloved son of Willis McCourt and Madalene Cogar McCourt.

For over four decades, Samuel dedicated himself to his work as a self-employed logger, a testament to his resilience and dedication. His life was enriched by a love for the outdoors, where he found joy in gardening, canning, camping, fishing, and hunting. Above all, he cherished moments spent with his grandchildren and family, leaving behind a legacy of love and shared memories.

Samuel's memory will be tenderly carried forward by his children: Samuel (Terri) McCourt, Casey McCourt, and Dessie McCourt, siblings: Loretta Harris, Hilda Simmons, Teresa Hickman, Linda Young, Connie Sink, Richard McCourt, and Felishia Harris. His legacy continues through his seven grandchildren and an extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He reunites in peace with his brother Kenneth McCourt, who preceded him.

A service to honor and celebrate Samuel’s life will commence at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the Erbacon Community Church, with Pastor Eddie Green guiding the ceremony. Family and friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Samuel will find his final resting place after services at Sunset Memorial Park in Erbacon.
