Ronald Cleveland "Butch" Williams

Ronald “Butch” C. Williams, age 79, of St. Albans (formally of Cowen), West Virgina passed away on July 13, 2026, after a brief illness. He was born in Cowen, WV on December 30, 1946, to Cecil Ray and Vada Lee (Weese) Williams.

Following graduation from Cowen High School, he served in the US Air Force and US Army before becoming an elementary school teacher in Nicholas County, a school administrator in Clay and Pendleton counties, and a superintendent in Webster County. He continued his military service by serving in the National Guard and Army Reserve before retiring after 31 years.

He loved spending time with his family, talking with friends, watching sports, playing guitar, traveling, and most recently playing pool with friends. He especially loved the Cleveland Browns and the West Virginia Mountaineers.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary, two daughters Serena Williams Dean and Holly Williams, grandchildren Emily Dean and Noah (Jacqueline) Patterson, great grandson Wyatt, siblings Dorothy Sharlene Williams, Karen Williams, Stephen (Peggy) Williams, and Robert (Carla) Williams, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Cecil and Vada Williams and siblings Janet Baughman, Ella Ernestine Williams, Betty Sue Williams, Paul Randall Williams.

Visitation will be held for family and friends on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Morris Funeral Home, 160 Railroad Avenue, Cowen, WV. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Morris Funeral Home, with Rev. Keith Williams officiating. Burial with full military honors conducted by American Legion Post # 62 and Masonic Lodge # 107 will follow at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Cowen.
