Rodney Darrell Phares, 68, of Cowen passed away at his home on July 1, 2025. He was born on May 16, 1957, in Richwood, the son of the late Virgil Phares and the late Sada White Phares.

Rodney was a graduate of Cowen High School, served in the United States Army, worked for Metal Craft in Richwood, and was auto mechanic. He was a “jack of all trades”, enjoyed tinkering with cars, fishing, camping, rock and roll music, motorcycles and had a passion for Volks Wagons.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Tommy, Ralph, Timmy, Davey, Frankie and Ronald Phares, and sisters, Ann King and Frances Phares.

Left to cherish his memory are his brothers, Kenny (Lou) Phares of Illinois and Virgil Ray (Teresa) Phares of Craigsville; sister, Rose White of Illinois; caregiver, John Gray and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be held on Sunday, July 6, 2025 @ 2:00pm at Morris Funeral Home in Cowen with Pastor Eddie Green officiating. Burial with full Military Honors by American Legion Post 62 will follow at the Phares Family Cemetery, Williams River. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:00pm until the time of service at Morris Funeral Home.
