Rocky Hines

Rocky Hines, 62, of Cowen, WV passed away February 27, 2019 at his home surrounded by family and friends after an 8 year battle with cancer. He was born May 27, 1956 a son of Nancy Hines of Jumbo, WV and the late Bobby Hines.

Rocky was a 1973 graduate of Webster Springs High School and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree from Mountain State University in Operational Management. He began working at Monongahela Power as a lineman in 1977 and retired as Electric Operations Supervisor in 2017, after 40 years of service. He was a member of WV Trappers Association, Sugar Creek Sportsman’s Club, Central WV Riding Club, and a willing participant of all activities of the Back Fork Rangers.

Rocky’s smile was contagious, turning every stranger he met into a friend. He loved reading, horseback riding, hunting, fishing, traveling, spending time at his camp on the Back Fork and being a dad to all kids that came to visit.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sharon, daughters Kelsi Hines (boyfriend Aaron Conant) of Cowen, WV, Gracie Hines of Cowen, WV, Kassi Hiler (Eddie) of Charlottesville, VA; Siblings: Randy Hines (Sherri) of Cowen, WV, Cheryl Ratliff (Scott) of Heaters, WV, Wendy Hines (Tom) of Parkersburg, WV; Grandchildren: Evan and Eli Hines, Hannah Gilles, and Livvie Hiler, and special friend Dan Friend.

In addition to his father, son Justin Hines preceded him in death.

Rocky will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends.

Rocky’s wish for cremation has been honored and a memorial service in his memory will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen with Pastor Robey Godfrey officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 12:00 until time of service, Saturday, at the funeral home.
