Robert Vincent Sullivan, 73, of Summersville, passed away Tuesday, February 29, 2024 at WVU United Hospital Center, Bridgeport, after an extended illness. He was born May 1, 1950 in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, a son of the late Joseph Robert Sullivan and Helen Marie Hughes Sullivan.

Robert was a retired United States Army Veteran, having attained the rank of E-7, Sergeant First Class. Bob served three tours of duty during the Vietnam War, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal (5th award), Meritorious Service Medal (2nd award), Army Commendation Medal (5th award), Army Achievement Medal (4th award), National Defense Service Medal (3rd award), Vietnam Service Medal (3rd award), Overseas Service Bar (3rd award) Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation With Palm and the Combat Infantry Badge.

He is survived by sister, Kerry Shields of Middletown, Ohio, sister in laws, Sandra (Fred) Hamrick of Cowen, Sherri (Dave) Schnieder of East Lake, California, brother in law, Gene (Bonnie) Hamrick of Palm Desert, California, and numerous, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces, great nephews and his best buddy his cat Rascal, will miss him dearly.

In addition to his parents, his loving wife of 37 years Cheryl Sullivan, grandmother, Margaret Sullivan, and great aunt, Mary Bragg preceded him in death.
