Robert Duane Deel

Robert Duane Deel, 77, of Cowen, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at CAMC after a short illness. He was born March 6, 1943, in Arcola, a son of Mavadelle Tyler and the late Arley Austin Deel.

Robert was a retired brakeman and conductor from the B&O, Chessie and CSX railroad. He enjoyed hunting, digging ginseng, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother, wife, Thelma Weese Deel, children, Pam (Charlie) Smith of Upper Glade and Dewayne Deel of Fairmont, brother, Gary Deel of Cowen, grandchildren, Ashley (Jason) Casteel, Tim Smith, Sammi Jo Deel and great-granddaughter, Jaina and many other extended family and friends.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private family graveside service was held Sunday, April 5, 2020 at the Handschumacher Cemetery, Upper Glade with Pastor Doug Martin officiating.
