A 1969 graduate of Cowen High School, Retha devoted much of her career to caring for others. She spent many years working in Home Health, providing compassionate care for the elderly. Following an injury, she became a full-time homemaker and mother, which she loved. Her professional life was a reflection of her generous spirit and her natural willingness to help those in need.
Retha’s deep commitment extended beyond her career into her community involvement. She was a proud, thirty-plus-year member of the Halo Community Church, where she volunteered by preparing numerous dinners for church events. Her faith and service were sources of great pride, as she joyfully contributed her time to serve God and uplift those around her. Additionally, she was an active member of the senior citizens group, further illustrating her devotion to community engagement.
Family was at the heart of Retha’s life. She cherished spending time with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren, with whom she shared countless precious moments. Her warmth and kindness endeared her to many, and her home was often a gathering place filled with love and laughter. She shared over five decades (54 years) of marriage with the love of her life, James "Jim" Morrison, a union that stood as a testament to enduring partnership and mutual support.
Retha’s personal interests were varied and reflected her nurturing nature. She enjoyed shopping, knitting, admiring her flowers, and reading, activities that brought her peace and joy amidst a life of service.
She is survived by her devoted husband, James "Jim" Morrison; their children, James "Michael" Morrison (Paula) of Cowen, Wendy "Michele" Morrison-Tabol (Andy) of Vermilion, Ohio, and Mitchel G. Morrison (Tammy) of Cowen. She also lovingly leaves behind her brothers Clyde "Leo" Giles (Melody), Earnest "Ray" Giles (Debbie), and William Nicholas Giles (Amy), as well as her sister Hazel Louise Williams and their families. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren Holley, Kerstin, Joshua, Riley, Maddie, Ben, Tymber, and Emmie, and her great-grandson Grayson. She will also be fondly remembered by many, including her church family and friends who were touched by her kindness.
