Phyllis Harrison Berkenkemper, 80, passed away July 28, 2016 at the Carroll County General Hospital following an extended illness.

She was born June 18, 1936, in Bolair, WV, the daughter of Emery and Ocie Harrison. Phyllis was the youngest of nine children and was raised in the house her father built. She graduated from Webster Springs High School in 1954 and worked most of her career as an Office Manager. She was a member of the Sand Run Baptist Church since her childhood and instilled a strong sense of Christian faith into all of her children and grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Edward Berkenkemper, daughters, Terry Berkenkemper, Tammi (Bill) Ledley, and Cathy (Jim) Schrader, son, Mitchell (Andrea) Berkenkemper, and first cousin once removed Jeff (Drenda) Harrison (whom she often referred to as her “other son”). Granddaughters, Brandie (Dewayne) Holcomb, Somer and Julianna Ledley and Sierra Schrader. Grandsons, Daniel (Karen) Berkenkemper, Steven (Elle) Berkenkemper and Ryan (Kal-Le) Schrader. Great granddaughters, Jordan, Adrian, and Finn Berkenkemper, Micah and Madison Berkenkemper, and Adryana Holcomb. Great grandsons, Haiden Holcomb, Nash and Anson Schrader, and Wes Berkenkemper.

Services were held at 2:00 PM, Monday, August 1, 2016 at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen, led by her nephew, Pastor Larry Lovely. She was laid to rest at WV Memorial Gardens, Calvin, WV.

Services were entrusted to the care of Morris Funeral Home, Cowen, WV.
