Michelle Kay Duckworth

Michelle Kay Duckworth, 61 of Cowen, WV passed away peacefully at Summersville Regional Medical Center on Sunday, April 19, 2026, after a short illness.

Born October 14, 1964, in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Gail C. Stalnaker and Tomita Kay Hale. Also preceded in death was her beloved brother Issac Stalnaker.

Michelle was a 1983 graduate of Braxton County High School. She was a lettered basketball player and a competitive barrel racer. Throughout her life Michelle enjoyed the simple things, fishing, canning, yard sales and gardening to mention a few. Her true love was her pets that loved her as much as she loved them.

Michelle took a jag of tools, a formless rock, a bag of rules and made life work, in making a home a “home”. She will be missed by family and anyone that crossed her path.

Left to cherish her memory are Tim Mayfield, her companion for 17 years, Destiny Hoffman (caregiver), sister, Lisa Gail Stalnaker-Stewart and Mike Brewster of Heater, WV, aunt Linda and husband Jim Kinder, uncle Mark Tonkin and wife Vicki, uncle Veron Tonkin and wife Rita, nephew Adam J. Flynn, wife, Tosha, children Mason, Grayson, Hadlee and Finlee.

It was Michelle’s wish to be cremated, and a collaboration of life will be held at a later date.
