Michael Dean Russell

Michael Dean Russell, of Cowen, passed away on Monday June 13, 2022 at the Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg, West Virginia, after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Mike was born on February 5, 1958 to the late Jubert Russell and Goldie Williams. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Russell, whom he had been married to for 38 years. He is also survived by his two beautiful daughters that he was very proud of; Randi (Nathan) Angus of Summersville, and Sammi (Anthony) Carpenter of Cowen. Mike is also survived by five grandchildren that he cherished and loved more than anything, Levi, Madison, Joanna, Bella, and Emily. He is also survived by his brother, Jack (Retha) Russell of Cowen and two sisters, Carol Walker and Connie Dean Russell, also of Cowen. Mike also has many nieces and nephews that survives him. He cherished his many friends, especially Dave Woods.

He was a previous coal miner by trade and a master tinker that could fix or make anything. Mike was a man that enjoyed the simple things in life and his family and friends. Things that he enjoyed were his Harley, a good meal, a western, and sitting by the fire and listening to the oldies at his camp to name a few. He never saw a stranger and loved to tell stories. He was a hard worker and did things his own way, which he would tell you was the right way. He could be very stubborn in his ways but he had a big soft heart.

Services for Michael will be held by Morris Funeral Home of Cowen. The viewing will be held on June 15, 2022 from 12:00-2:00PM. The funeral service will start directly after the viewing. Brian Angus will be officiating and some kind words and memories from Larry Armentrout. Burial will following the service in the Alex Williams Cemetery, Cranberry Ridge.
