Michael James Hamrick

Michael James Hamrick, a devoted family man and respected truck driver, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026. Born on February 5, 1954, Michael was a 1972 graduate of Cowen High School and built a commendable career spanning over 30 years driving truck, where he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike.

Michael was known for his warm personality and his love for spending time with those dearest to him. Above all, he cherished moments shared with his family, especially the joy brought to him by his grandchildren. His spirit was marked by a genuine desire to have a good time and to create lasting memories with loved ones.  Michael James Hamrick's life will be remembered with respect and affection by those fortunate enough to have known him, and his memory will continue to inspire and uplift his family and community.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Hamrick of Virginia Beach; his mother Betty Lynch of Upper Glade; his brother, Sammie (Debbie) Donaldson of Upper Glade; his sister, Debbie (Andy) Roberts of St. Albans; and his three sons, Shawn (Cheryl) Hamrick, Ryan (Miranda) Hamrick, and Brandon (Tricia) Hamrick, all residing in Virginia Beach. Michael's legacy is further carried on by his beloved grandchildren: Nicholas (Elissa) Godley, Daniel (Holly) Godley, Cecilia (Mikal) Brooks, Savanna Hamrick, Chase Hamrick, Tyler Hilton, Haleigh Hamrick, Aiden Hamrick, Eli Hamrick, Shawn Faley; and great grandchildren. Daniel Godley, Jr., Bell Godley, Alessia Mosley, and Daxton Mosley.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, Lowell Hanson Lynch.

A graveside service to honor Michael's life and memory will be held on May 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Doug Martin, officiating at the Gospel Fellowship Cemetery, located in Upper Glade, WV.
