Michael Duane Blankenship

Michael Duane Blankenship, 70, of Sutton, passed away Friday, June 28, 2019 at the Louis A. Johnson VA. Medical Center, Clarksburg after an extended illness. He was born February 4, 1949 in Richwood, a son of the late Alden and Delma Roberts Blankenship.

Mike was a former road construction worker and railroader, but he spent over 30 years as a logger. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran. Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and just sitting around a campfire talking.

Surviving is his wife of 20 years, Denise Cantwell Blankenship, children, Misty Leary of Nevada, Michael Blankenship of Montana, Terry Blankenship of Louisiana, Eric Whittrock of Montana, Duane Blankenship of Montana, Charles Rowe of Montana, Paul Rowe of Tennessee, Justin Cantwell of Nebraska and Heather Benefield of Tennessee. 23 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Mike’s request for cremation has been honored and a Memorial Service with Military Honors conducted by American Legion Post #62 will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen.
