Lydia Melvina Woods, 83, passed away peacefully on July 7,2026 at the Bowers House peacefully with her Granddaughter Devon by her side she is leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and kindness.
Born on July 17, 1942, in Cowen, West Virginia, Lydia spent the last 8 years of her life at Hilltop Center Long-Term Care, where she was cared for with compassion and dignity.
A devoted woman of faith, Lydia attended Erbacon Church for as long as her health allowed. Praising the Lord brought her great joy, and her faith remained the foundation of her life.
Lydia found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She especially loved playing bingo—her favorite pastime—as well as working crossword and jigsaw puzzles, playing solitaire, and enjoying Little Debbie snack cakes. She had a gentle spirit and a heart of gold that touched everyone who knew her.
Her family was the center of her world. She shared an especially close bond with her granddaughter, Devon, whom she lovingly called her “favorite” and her “angel.” Their relationship brought Lydia immeasurable joy, and she often spoke of Devon with great love and pride.
In her final moments, Lydia was surrounded by the love of her family. Her granddaughter, Devon, remained faithfully by her side until she peacefully passed, while her other loved ones were also there to comfort her and say their final goodbyes.
Lydia will be remembered for her sweet soul, unwavering faith, warm heart, and the love she gave so freely. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were blessed to know her.
She is survived by her daughter, Christine Isabell, and son-in-law, Bob Isabell, of Cowen, West Virginia; her cherished granddaughters, Devon Stasko and her husband, Elliott Stasko, of Illinois, and Brooke Sorci and her husband, Bret Sorci, of Summersville, West Virginia; and her five treasured great-grandchildren: Kaiyden Stasko (12), Paisley Nicholas (11), Bradley Sorci (9), Brody Sorci (4) and Vivienne Sorci (10 months).
Lydia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Olney Woods.
