Louise Rigsby

Louise Rigsby, a devoted homemaker and beloved member of her community, was born on August 16, 1957, in Webster Springs, West Virginia. She passed away unexpectedly on February 24, 2026, at CAMC Memorial Division in Charleston, West Virginia, at the age of 68, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion.

Louise was a proud graduate of Webster County High School, class of 1975. Throughout her life, she poured her heart and soul into raising and caring for her family, embodying the role of a nurturer and caregiver. Her faith as a devoted Baptist was a guiding force in her life, and she found great joy in her relationship with the Lord, which illuminated her daily existence.

Louise's interests spanned a variety of activities that brought her joy. She had a fondness for playing Bingo and could often be found driving around looking for deer. She cherished moments spent watching sports, always accompanied by her roommate, Phyllis "Flip" Pierson, and enjoying popcorn together. Her love for nature was evident in her delight in feeding and watching birds, bringing a sense of tranquility to her life.

She leaves behind her mother, Dora Grounds, son, Paul (Marcia) Rigsby, and daughter, Mary (Myrven) Young, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Kayle Young, Brent Young, Shaylynn Davis, Bethany Dutton, and Brianna Christian/Elmore. Ester also took immense pride in her role as great grandmother to Daisy Jo Davis, Brayleigh Rae Davis, and Kade Elemore. She is further survived by her dear brothers, Kenny Grounds and Dennis Grounds, her sister, Barbara Satterfield, and many extended family members and friends, as well as, her special dog Jax.

Louise was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul D. Rigsby, along with her father, Robert Gene Grounds, brothers William Robert Grounds and Tim Grounds, and her brother-in-law, Robert Gene Satterfield.

Service will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen with Pastor Doy Carpenter officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 12:00 noon until the time of service at the funeral home. Her wishes for cremation will then be honored.

The family would like to thank the Clay Health Care Center for providing excellent care for their mother.

Ester Louise Rigsby will be remembered not only for her unwavering faith and commitment to her family but also for her vibrant spirit and warmth towards those around her. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
