Linda  Joyce  Bean

Linda Joyce Bean (Joyce), 77, of Cowen, WV, passed away peacefully at home on March 31, 2021, with family at her side.
She was born to parents Len Harold Holcomb and Sybil Dean Holcomb on September 25, 1943, in Webster County, WV.

Joyce graduated from Cowen High School in 1962, earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Glenville State College, 1976, and her Master of Arts from West Virginia College of Graduate Studies in 1985. She has always advocated the value of education to her family and others.

An elementary teacher for 33 years, Joyce taught in the 3^rd grade and the Special Education classroom. Helping young people discover a passion for learning was her true joy in life. She retired from Glade Elementary School in 1998.Joyce loved teaching and being a Girl Scout Troop Leader. She was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing, gardening, and canning. Joyce and her husband of 56 years, Daniel, were married on December 26, 1964, in Upper Glade, WV. Together, they raised two daughters: Jennifer L. (Bean) Hunter, Sarah J. (Bean) Caudill. She is survived by her husband Dan, daughters Jennifer and Sarah, grandchildren Luke H. Hunter and Elaina M. Caudill, siblings Roger (Sherry) Holcomb and Judy (Gary) Deel, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Len H. and Sybil D. Holcomb and brothers Kenneth and William H. Holcomb.

Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for April 8, 2021, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Morris Funeral Home, 160 Railroad Ave. W. Cowen, WV.  Her funeral will be a private ceremony for family on April 9, 2021, at West Virginia Memorial Gardens in Calvin, WV.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cowen Public Library P. O. 187, Cowen, WV 26206. *Please note “In Memory of Linda Joyce Bean.”
