Leila Delorise Blake Given

Leila Delorise Blake Given, 103, of Upper Glade, WV, passed away at Webster County Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, September 21, 2016.

She was born December 24, 1912 a daughter of the late Harry and Olive Cutter Blake.

Sis was a former cook for the Webster County School System having started at the Upper Glade School, then Cowen High School and Webster County High School. She had over 20 years of dedicated service. In the early years, she would prepare the food at home and carry it to the Upper Glade School. She was a member of the Upper Glade Presbyterian Church for many years, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a PTA Officer. But most of all she enjoyed raising her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and spending time with her extended family.

Surviving are her children, Betty Bailey of Warren, Ohio, Kate (Bill) Crites of Upper Glade, Harry (Linda) Given of Upper Glade, sister, Jean Cowan of Salem, Ohio, son in law, Arnold Ayers, sister in law, Sally Fletcher Blake, daughter in law, Connie Heldenfels, grandchildren, David Bailey, Cathy Bailey Thomas, Lee Ayers, Bob Crites, Shelley Crites Brown, Jeff Crites, Leeann Crites Neve, Michael Given, Leslie Given, Kristen Given Robinson and numerous great and great-great and great-great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband Hercy Given, son, Hercy Given Jr., daughter, Barbara Ayers, brother, Keith Blake, sisters, Althea Blake Morrison, Wilma Blake Wright, Irene Blake Leiniger and son in law, Edwin Bailey.

Service will be 11:00am. Monday, September 26, 2016 at the Upper Presbyterian Church with Reverend Robert “Bob” Bondurant officiating. Burial will follow at the Given Cemetery, Upper Glade.
Friends may gather with the family on Sunday, September 25, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen.
