John Charles Baker

John Charles Baker, 61, of Craigsville, formerly of Cowen, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at his residence. He was born January 28, 1960 in Webster Springs, a son of the late Cecil Charles Baker and Mayer Elizabeth Mills Baker Tracey.

John was a 1978 graduate of Webster County High School and worked many years as a coal miner at Brooks Run, Evergreen and Island Creek Coal Companies. John was a Mason and a member of Camden Lodge 107. He was a trader, picker and enjoyed collecting older model cars. John enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter Misty Baker of Beckley, grandchildren Adam Williams of Elkins, and Lexis Goss of Beckley and cousin, Brian Knopp and family. He will be missed by many of his coal mining friends.

In addition to his parents, daughter Carrie Baker preceded him in death.

Graveside service will be held Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at 1:00 PM at the Oddfellows Cemetery with Pastor Brian Angus officiating.
