Jimmy “Hippie” Lawson, 71,of Craigsville, went home to be with our lord and the love of his life of 43 years, Youvone, on April 22, 2025.

Born on October 9, 1953, in Braxton County to Shirley June Boggs and Jim “Pistol” Rapp. Hippie was a family man that always was the one who took care of everyone. His family was most important to him. He was a former sawmill worker and had worked in the profession for over forty years. He fully retired in November 2023.

Hippie was a Baptist by faith and always enjoyed Mike Malcomb’s sermons. He enjoyed spending time with his family, classic cars, car shows, riding motorcycles, camping and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Youvone Lawson; One Uncle that was considered a brother, Tom Lawson Sr.; Four brothers: Timmy Phillips, David Phillips, Teddy Rapp, and Randy Rapp; One sister, Lorinna “Binnie” Woods.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Jimmy (Andrea) Lawson, Shirley (Teddy) Osborne, and Chrissy (Jamie) Bess.

Grandchildren: Victoria (Gaje) Kidd, Tyler Dillon, Austin (Laney) Jarvis, Kylie Lawson, and Addison Osborne.

Great Grandchildren: Maloney, River, Chevelle, Robbie, Gabe, Rueben and Becca.

Siblings: Annabelle (Gary) Roach, Martha Phillips(Rocky Williams), Regina (Nathan) Peyatt, Dale Phillips, Brother-in-Law: Jesse Woods, Marlene (Roy) Wood, Tammy (Jerry) Stuck, Christine (Chris) Lingerfeller, Andy (Sharil) Rapp, and Lloyd Rapp.

Many nieces and nephews.

Also left to cherish his memory is his long-time friends that he considered siblings Sharon and Bill Glasscock.

Services will be held at 7:00pm on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen with Pastor Mike Malcomb officiating. Jimmy’s wishes for cremation will then be honored. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00pm until the time of the service, Friday at the funeral home.

Services will be held at 7:00pm on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen with Pastor Mike Malcomb officiating. Jimmy’s wishes for cremation will then be honored. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00pm until the time of the service, Friday at the funeral home.
