Janet Kay Johnson

Janet Kay Johnson, 48, of Charleston formerly of Cowen passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Charleston Area Medical Center, Memorial Division.

She was born January 16, 1969 in Rockford, Illinois a daughter of the late Edgar “Bud” and Mabel Dillon Johnson. Janet was a graduate of Webster County High School and worked as a CNA at the Richwood Nursing Home for several years. She was a Protestant by Faith and enjoyed painting and framing pictures, embroidery of pillows, dancing, singing, working with flowers and loving her children.

Surviving are her sons, Zachary Simms of Craigsville and Wesley Simms of Canvas, siblings, Mary Tabor of Cowen, Carol Green of Craigsville, Shirley Johnson of Craigsville, Rodney Johnson of Beckley, Charlene Johnson of Cowen, grandson, Jaxon James Simms and companion Lester Russell.

In addition to her parents, brother Edgar Johnson Jr., preceded her in death.

Service will be 3;00pm. Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen. Burial will follow at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Cowen. Friends may call from 1:00pm. until time of service Sunday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.morrisfuneralhomecowenwv.com.
