Janet Sue Hinkle

Janet Sue Hinkle, 73, of Cowen, WV. went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 6, 2020 following an extended illness. Jan was born September 30, 1947 in Richwood, a daughter of the late James O. and Freda Jarrett Miller.

She was a 1965 graduate of Cowen High School and a 1992 graduate of Glenville State College, where she obtained her associates in arts and general studies. She began her career with the Webster County Board of Education and served 39 years as a teacher’s aide. Most of those years were spent in kindergarten helping young children transition into school. Jan also attended the Upper Glade Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, bingo, auctions, being outdoors, car rides for sight seeing and spending time with her family and friends.

Besides her parents and grandparents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years Earnest “Ernie” Hinkle, as well as many aunts and uncles.

Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Martie (Jackson) Jarvis, nephews, James Jarvis, Richie (Crystal) Hinkle, Danny (Chris) Hinkle, nieces, Jody (Tom) Kinslow, Jeanette (Larry) Cresswell, great nephew, Jackson Kinslow, great niece, Abby Grace Kinslow, uncle, Donald (Cecile) Miller, aunt, Anita “June” Miller as well as many cousins and friends, also special neighbors, Randy, Jackie and Harmon Wamsley.

Services will be held at 2:00pm Friday, December 11, 2020 at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen with Rev. Robert “Bob” Bondurant and Rev. Tom Kessler officiating. Burial will follow at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Cowen. Friends may join the family from 12:00 until the time of service Friday at the funeral home.
