James Gaylord Fisher, 86, of Bolair, passed away Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Webster County Memorial Hospital, Webster Springs after an extended illness. He was born on May 2, 1939, in Fenwick, the son of the late Gedion and Iva Thomas Fisher.
James was a hard-working coal miner who provided for his family. He worked for over 31 years at the Island Creek Coal Company. James was a 50-year member of the U.M.W.A. and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family.
Surviving is his loving wife of 56 years, Eulah O’Brian Fisher, children, Robert (Cindy) Fisher of Boggs, Charlie (Jeannie) Fisher of Boggs, Denise (Eddie) Hughes of Canvas, sister, Pauline Casto of Wooster, Ohio, grandchildren, Brandi (Brandon) Wamsley, Brooke (Jay) Harris, Valerie (Logan) Cole, Cheyenne Fisher, Nathan Fisher, great-grandson, Holden Wamsley and one great- grandchild on the way and many nieces, nephews, friends and coworkers made over the years.
In addition to his parents, daughter, Karen Fisher, brothers, Franklin “Frank” Fisher, William “Bill” Fisher, Marion “Bud” Fisher, Roy Fisher, sisters, Madelyn Davis, Edith Fisher, Ruth Fisher, Marge Fisher and Naomi Ware preceded him in death.
