James Patrick Cogar

James Patrick Cogar, 55, of Erbacon passed away December 16, 2017 at home. Pat was born October 16, 1962 in Richwood, WV, a son of the late Gene and Pearl Myers Cogar.

He was a logger with over 30 years of service, having worked for Big Dog Logging most recently. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time in the woods. Pat also loved being with his grandchildren.

He is survived by children, Beth (Donnie) Short and Destiny (Ray) Johns. Siblings: Delfan Cogar (Joyce Tonkin) of Erbacon, Imijean (Tommy) Rhodes of Erbacon, Carolyn (Ronnie) Rhodes of Erbacon and Frances (Franklin) Conard of Virginia. Grandchildren Jaylee Lynn Short and Keeshia Ray Short and step grandson Tyler Scott Anderson. Best friends Waymon McCourt and Clay Boothe as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews are left to cherish his memory.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Amanda Dove Cogar.

Services will be held Friday, December 22, 2017 at 2:00pm at Morris Funeral Home with the Rev. Curt Tonkin officiating. Burial will follow at the Cogar McCourt Family Cemetery, Camp Run.
