James F. Carpenter

James F. Carpenter passed away at home on May 14, 2023. He was born November 19, 1946 in Richwood, a son of the late Ira Elbert Carpenter and Alma Carpenter.

James was a 1964 graduate of Cowen High School, member of the Disabled American Veterans, America Legion Post 62, and the VFW. He loved watching cowboy movies, hunting, fishing, spending time with his animals, and chilling on his front porch.

Surviving are his spouse Helen (Dempsey) Carpenter; daughter Jennifer Carpenter of Ohio; sons Jeromy Carpenter of Cowen and Rodney Travis of Cowen; sister Elene Wells of Florida; Nephew Mathew Carpenter of Craigsville and niece, Chrissy Carpenter of Florida; and several grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Debbie Stollings and son, Kevin Carpenter.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Sunset Memorial Park in Erbacon, with Pastor Doug Martin officiating.  Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 62 of Cowen, WV.
