Herbert Edgar Short

Herbert Edgar Short, 80, of Webster Springs, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 13, 1939 in Calvin a son of the late Herbert and Josie Quinn Short.

Hebert retired as a foreman with over 24 years from the Costal Treating Company Company. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with all his grandchildren.

Surviving is his loving wife of over 54 years, Wuanita Riffle Short, children, Anita (Dwayne) Taylor of Webster Springs and Herbert II and companion Peggy Groves of Flatwoods, siblings, Dan Short of Birch River, Mont Short of Glade View, Phyllis Bender of Webster Springs, Melinda White of Webster Springs and Peggy Rhodes of Little Birch, grandchildren, Kayla Sims, Adam Everson, Jewel Short, Latha Dumire and Brandon Short, great-grandchildren, KalEl, Elli, Thea, Noah, Jayden, Kaydence, Leland, Jace and Owen and many other nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, siblings, Ann Springston, Margaret Riffle and Spurgon Short preceded him in death.

Service will be held at 2:00pm Sunday, May 10, 2020 at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen with Rev. Keith Williams officiating. Burial will follow at the Short Family Cemetery, Nile Road, Craigsville. Friends may call from 1:00pm until the time of service Sunday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Morris Funeral Home P.O. Box 267, Cowen, WV 26206 to help with funeral expenses.
