Services will be held at Morris Funeral Home, Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 2:00 pm with pastor Doug Martin officiating. Burial will follow at the Handschumacher Cemetery in Upper Glade, WV. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 12:00 pm until the time of service at Morris Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, Gerald requested donations be made to Saving Webster County Dogs.

Gerald D. Handschumacher, 74, of Upper Glade passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Webster Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Gerald was born on December 28, 1950, in Bolair, WV the son of the late Gerald R. Handschumacher and the late Elizabeth “Mae” Wilt Handschumacher.

He retired from Weyerhaeuser; however, had previously worked for Oneida Coal and Sun Coal Companies. Gerald loved being home, hunting, and spending time with his granddaughter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Lewis Handschumacher; sister, Virginia Davis Handschumacher, sister, Janie Handschumacher, and grandson, Gerald R. Handschumacher, II.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Gerald Ray (Crystal) Handschumacher of Charleston; granddaughter, Destiny Handschumacher; siblings, Barbara (Allen) Bell, Larry (Kathy) Handschumacher, Ernest Handschumacher, and Nancy (Roy) Welch; niece, Julie Davis Harvey and several other nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
