Garel Tony "Red" Adamy, born on February 14, 1940, in Bolair, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026, at CAMC in Charleston, West Virginia. He lived a remarkable life, filled with dedication and commitment to both his family and his profession.

Red devoted an impressive 33 and a half years to the coal mining industry, working tirelessly for the Island Creek Coal Company. His contribution to this vital sector was not only a means of supporting his family but also a testament to his strong work ethic and reliability as a member of the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA). Throughout his life, he shared his passion for the outdoors with those he loved, indulging in activities such as hunting, fishing, gardening, and yard work. Traveling also brought him joy, allowing him to explore the beauty of different places with his wife, while creating treasured memories throughout the United States.

One of Red's greatest joys was watching his grandchildren play sports, an activity that brought him immense pride and happiness. He cherished every moment spent with his family, fostering a loving environment for all. His immediate family includes his beloved spouse, Brenda Adamy, and their daughter, Toni (Lionel) Newman, Buckhannon. Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Edith Hill, and brother, Bill (Sue) Adamy. He is preceded in death by his father, William Adamy, his mother, Agatha Miller Adamy, and his beloved daughter, Teri Given. Also, he mourns the loss of siblings Eugene Adamy, Agnes Short, and twin Gayle Cutright, who have departed this world before him.
