Ernest Edgell

Ernest Edgell, 40, of Cowen passed away suddenly on July 13, 2025, at Webster County Memorial Hospital. He was born on April 26, 1985, in Wheeling, the son of Deborah Greathouse and the late Eugene Edgell.

Ernest worked in the fast-food business. He was a jack of all trades, loved riding Harleys and purchasing lottery tickets.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Earl Edgell and Ernie Greathouse; grandmothers, Alice Edgell and Nancy Greathouse; uncles, Robert Edgell, James Greathouse, John Greathouse and David Greathouse; aunts, Judy Hercules, and Shirley Ramsey.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Anita Edgell of Cowen; children, Ashtin Ernest Eugene Edgell, Blaize Elizabeth Edgell and Ella Mae Young (Jerrod Young); brother, James Eugene Edgell, Jr.; sisters, Lisa Marie Elbert, Cathy Shively and Connie Orum; grandchildren, Asher Eugene Edgell and Eden Mae Young.

A celebration of life will be held @ 12:00pm on Monday, July 21, 2025 at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen with Pastor Allen Sanson officiating. Ernest’s wishes for cremation have been honored. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 11:00 am until the time of the service on Monday, at the funeral home.
