Earnest Ray Giles

Earnest "Ray" Giles, 72 of Cowen, WV, passed from his earthly home to his eternal home on July 29th, 2026. He was born on July 8, 1954, the son of the late Frank and Erma Mullens Giles.

Ray was a christian and his love of the lord was unwaveringly. He attended the Half Acre Baptist Church on Cranberry Ridge until his health kept him from going. He was a member of the Cowen Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Ray loved spending time with his family, fishing, hunting and riding 4-wheelers. He was employed by the WVDOH from where he retired because of his health.

He is survived by his loving wife Debbie Henline Giles whom he married on January 27, 1984. He will be sadly missed by his children Michael W. Giles (Jess) of Pax, Luticia Giles (Ronnie) of Cowen, Brandon Giles (Nicole) of Cowen, & Christal Giles of Beckley. Grandchildren Bryan Hamrick (Gracie), Gabriel, Karissa, Rylee & Makenna Giles, Lillian & Lance Zigelhofer, Megan & Bucky Carpenter. Great Grandchildren Atlas Hamrick, who was poppys best buddy, Dokoda & Mady Carpenter and Hartlea Rose Carpenter. Siblings Leo (Melody) Giles of Ohio, William (Amy) Giles of Cowen, and Hazel Williams of Cowen, Brothers and sisters-in-law Jim Morrison, Gary (Mary) Henline, Bettie Wyatt, John (Patsy) Henline, Susan Lowery, Steve (Rhonda) Henline, Vicki (Mitch) Tracy, Kim Henline and Anita (Charles) Campbell plus many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

He was proceeded in death by his brothers, Paul "Calvin" & Jeff Giles, sister Retha Morrison and brother-in-law Jubert Williams.

Ray will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Services will be held at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen, WV on Monday, August 3, 2026, @ 3:00 pm with Gary Cogar officiating. Family and friends may visit from 1:00 pm and until time of service on Monday.
