Donnie Gene Harris

Donnie Gene Harris, 65, of Erbacon passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Summersville Regional Medical Center after a short illness. He was born February 11, 1954 in Erbacon, a son of the late Lorenzo Victor and Ella Jackson Harris.

Donnie was a former coal miner and logger. He was the president of the Erbacon Community Development. He was an avid bear hunter and enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, camping with family and spoiling his grandchildren. Donnie was a jack of all trades and was a modern day McGyver when it came to fixing things.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta Harris, children, Linda Young, David Wolverton and Michael King all of Erbacon, siblings, Ray (Mary) Harris of Exchange, Eugene (Debbie) Harris of Little Birch, Opal (Grover) Burge of Carpenter Fork, grandchildren, Brianna Hardin, Monica Young, Chance Cochran, Dalton Wolverton, and Joshua Wolverton, great-grandchildren, Carter Sparkman, Dustin Wolverton and many other friends and hunting buddies.

In addition to his parents, siblings, Wilda Radcliff, Charles Harris, Harold Harris, Bruce Harris, Thelma Green and Ruby Birch preceded her in death.

Services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, April 21, 2019 at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen with Pastor Carl Griffith officiating. Burial will follow at the Harris Farm Cemetery, Erbacon. Friends may call from 12:00 until time of service Sunday at the funeral home.
