Dolan Ray "Rusty" Sanson

Dolan Ray Sanson, known to many as Rusty, passed away on October 8, 2026, at CAMC Memorial in Charleston, West Virginia. He was born on April 30, 1960, in Sutton, West Virginia.

Rusty was a man with a good sense of humor who brought warmth to those around him. He received his GED and worked at Leslie's Mill and B.F. Goodrich. In his free time, he enjoyed playing guitar and piano and singing. He also loved to tinker with clocks. Rusty had a special love for animals, hunting, and playing games on the computer.  He really embraced his Indian heritage.

Above all, Rusty loved his family and was known as a good husband, brother, and father. His life was shaped by the care he gave to the people closest to him, and he will be remembered with affection by those who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Cool Sanson. He is also survived by his brothers, Howard Sanson and Allen Sanson; and by his sisters, Carol McCourt, Monica Hitt, Wavelene Ward, and Wandalene Komorowski. Each of them carries forward treasured memories of Rusty and the love he shared with his family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carmel Ellis Sanson, Sr.; his mother, Myrtle Evelyn Selman; his sons, Dustin Ray Sanson and Shawn Allen Sanson; his brothers, Carmel Sanson, Jr. and Perry Sanson; and his sister, Shannon Knowles.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Morris Funeral Home, 160 Railroad Avenue, PO Box 267, Cowen, West Virginia 26206. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Morris Funeral Home with Rev. John Means officiating. Burial will follow at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Cowen, West Virginia.
