Delmas “Ray” Harris

Delmas “Ray” Harris, 68, of Exchange passed away Saturday, September 5, 2020 at the Louis A. Johnson V.A. Medical Center Clarksburg after an extended illness. He was born October 22, 1951 in Sutton a son of the late Victor Lorenzo and Ella Jackson Harris.

Ray was a former coal miner and a timberman in the logging industry. He was a former EMT, NRA member and attended the Old German Church. Ray was most proud of being an American and a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed trading guns, reloading shells, storytelling and spending time spoiling his grandchildren.

Surviving is his wife of 48 years, Mary Tonkin Harris, children, JoAnn Harris(Ben Perrin), Barbara (Stephen) Doak and Doug (Brenda) Harris, sister, Opal Burge, brother, Eugene Harris, grandchildren, Zeda, Ava, Daisy, Nathan, Annabella, Abigail, Alivia, Lillian, Mackinley, Brezlyn, Huxley and great-granddaughter Harmony and many other extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, siblings, Wilda, Ruby, Donnie, Charles, Thelma, Bruce and Harold preceded him in death.

Graveside Service will be held at 2:00pm Friday at the Harris Family Cemetery, Erbacon with Pastor Rick Hart officiating.
