David Glenn Wayne Sr.

David Glenn Wayne Sr., 76, of Cowen, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley after a short illness. He was born March 29, 1944 in Sutton, a son of the late Owen and Mildred Olive Bennett.

Dave was a hard working coal miner, having worked for 20 plus years at Island Creek Coal Company then finishing his mining career at Oneida Coal Company. Dave enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing and doing things in the outdoors. His true passion was playing the guitar and singing at funeral, local churches and revivals. He provided for his family and was a true servant of God.

Surviving is the love of his life of 57 years Linda Lemley Wayne, daughter, Donna (Douglas) Nulter of Cowen, brother, Robert “Bob” Wayne of Gassaway, grandchildren, Tony Dodrill, Wesley Wayne, Michael Johnson Jr., Whitney Wayne, Sasha Hayes, Brandon Nulter and Alex Nulter, great-grandchildren, Michael Spence, Amber Spence, Gracie Hayes, Everly McPherson, Owen Wayne, Weston Wayne, Addie Wayne, Zachary Nulter, Zoe Nulter, Madison Nulter, Levi Nulter, Jacob Nulter and Trinity Litton and many other friends.

In addition to his parents, son, David Wayne Jr., preceded him in death.

Services will be held at 2:00pm Sunday, January 3, 2020 at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen with Pastor Junior Hayhurst officiating. Burial will follow at the Wayne Family Cemetery. Friends may call from 12:00 until the time of the service Sunday at the funeral home.
