David Wayne Barnett

David Wayne Barnett, 64, of Cowen passed away suddenly on Monday, February 27, 2017 at Webster County Memorial Hospital.

He was born December 30, 1952 in Webster County a son of the late Wilford C. and Violet Macel Brown Barnett.

Dave was a former coal miner and retired from Weyerhaeuser. He was a graduate of Cowen High School and a U.S. Air Force Veteran, serving in Vietnam. Dave was also a valued friend to many at Morris Funeral Home, helping out in any way he could during their time of need. He loved to hunt, trap, fish, and visit with friends and neighbors all over town.

Dave is survived by his brother, James Barnett of Upper Glade, sister, Penny (Richard)Eplin, of St. Louis, special friend Ginger Russo of Mortiary, NM. Dave’s faithful companion and best friend was his dog, Lucy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in by an infant son, Brandon Wayne Barnett, daughter Tanya Kathryn Barnett, sister Janice Barnett, and brothers, Thomas, Charles and Kenneth Barnett.

In keeping with Dave’s wishes, he was cremated and a graveside service, with Pastor Clarence Thomas officiating, will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Cowen. Military Rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 62. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.morrisfuneralhomecowenwv.com.
