Charlotte Elaine (Holbrook) Bennett, 75 of Cowen, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Born on May 3, 1951, in Sutton, West Virginia, Charlotte was the daughter of the late Hershel Angus Holbrook and Helen Barnett Holbrook.
Charlotte was the heart of her family and loved having everyone together. She looked forward to holidays, filling her home with family, good food, and laughter. She was funny, stubborn, and never missed a chance to ask how everyone was doing or what was new in their lives. More than anything, she loved on her family every chance she got, and everyone who knew her could count on her kindness, generosity, and her big heart.
Charlotte spent many years working as a laboratory manager at Webster Memorial Hospital, where she cared for others with the same compassion she showed throughout her life. Outside of work, she enjoyed cheering on the WVU Mountaineers every football season and spending quiet time with her beloved Yorkie, Oliver. More than anything, she treasured every moment with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
She is survived by her loving husband, Frederick Bennett; her daughter, Connie Bennett Gumm (Brian); her cherished grandchildren, Garrett, Miranda, Grant, and Lex, who lovingly knew her as “Maw Maw”; her brother, Lonnie Holbrook (Jessica); and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Veronica Sue Bennett Davis (Jack); her son, Frederick Daniel “Danny” Bennett; and her sister, Anna Holbrook Blankenship (Dahn).
A Celebration of Life will be held at Leslie’s Gym (30 John’s Ct, Cowen, WV 26206) on Friday, July 10, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate Charlotte’s life, share stories, and celebrate the wonderful wife, mom, Maw Maw, sister, and friend she was.
